For New Jersey's General Assembly
September 11, 2009
MORRISTOWN - Rebekah Conroy and Wendy Wright, Democratic candidates for General Assembly in the 25th Legislative District, started the football season at the Grasshopper off the Green in Morristown last night. It was a campaign kickoff party and fundraiser attended by local Democrats and other supporters that also doubled as a food drive for Morristown’s Market St. Mission.
“It was a great chance to meet with voters without having to give a speech or hold a rally,” Conroy said. “The best way to learn what people want out of their assembly is just to ask and find out, and that’s what we have been doing all along.”
“The collection for Market St. Mission was an added bonus,” Wright continued. “The incredible work they do in Morristown is a source of pride for the entire community, and Rebekah and I are glad to help out any way we can.”
The football party is the just latest in a string of creative events Conroy and Wright have put together in an effort to connect with voters across the 25th District, which includes Boonton, Denville, Dover, Rockaway, Randolph, Jefferson, Roxbury, Mine Hill and Mountain Lakes as well as Morristown. Throughout the summer, the two held several “Coffee with the Candidate” events to discuss local issues and raise awareness of their candidacy. Over September and October they will be attending a number of house parties starting with Wednesday, September 18 in Boonton Twp.
Rebekah Conroy graduated The George Washington University and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and is currently an attorney at Walder, Hayden & Brogan, P.A., in Roseland, New Jersey. She was one of New Jersey Monthly magazine's "Super Lawyers - Rising Stars" in 2008 and 2009 and regularly undertakes voluntary representation of litigants in need, including battered women and the accused.
Wendy Wright holds a B.A. from Brandeis University, an M.A. from William Paterson University in Public Policy and is a doctoral candidate in and teaching assistant of Political Science at Rutgers University. She was the 2007 Democratic candidate for Morris County Freeholder and has a strong history of political involvement and service, including union activism and leadership.
